At our recent Business Club Ayrshire meeting, we were pleased to welcome member Brian Wade for an engaging presentation on his business, Funktional Print. With over 30 years of commercial experience, Brian specialises in helping organisations grow through smart, creative and impactful printed marketing.
Funktional Print offers a wide range of products including brochures, leaflets, business cards, exhibition displays, banners, menus, promotional items and branded stationery. Brian also showcased the company’s bespoke hot foil and finishing services, which allow clients to create memorable printed pieces with a touch of luxury.
What stood out was Brian’s emphasis on print as a practical and cost-effective tool that continues to drive visibility and customer engagement. His approach focuses on understanding each business’s goals and designing print that truly works.

Business Club Ayrshire members Flamingo Exterior Cleaning have been inducted into the Prestige Awards Hall of Fame after winning 'Best Exterior Cleaning Company ' 5 years in a row. After scooping this year's award at Edinburgh's Village Hotel, the business, based in Ayr, join a select group of companies to have achieved hall of fame status and the first from within the cleaning industry.
Company Director Robin Barclay explained, 'It's always nice to be recognised for our efforts and hard work. We're truly humbled to have won this award again and be inducted into the hall of fame. The industry is so competitive and the process of being selected for the award is eye opening. I strongly believe we wouldn't have achieved any of this without our incredible team who have shown tremendous amounts of dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm. This award is a reflection of their positive attitudes to work and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our customers receive the best possible service.'
Melanie Gilmartin, Events Coordinator at Prestige Awards added, 'Following extensive research, our panel of experts have chosen Flamingo as this year’s award winners after another successful year where they have expedited their adoption of greener technologies, displayed unrivalled customer service, and given back to the communities in which the operate. Aaron McIntyre from AWD Environmental shared his expertise on sustainable business practices and environmental compliance, providing practical strategies for companies looking to enhance their environmental impact. Following this, William Gemmel of Gemmel Wealth Management offered an engaging session on financial planning and wealth management, highlighting ways businesses and individuals can secure long-term financial stability.
Members appreciated the clear, actionable advice from both speakers, sparking lively discussion and the exchange of ideas. The meeting reinforced the club’s commitment to fostering professional growth and collaboration across Ayrshire. Attendees left with new knowledge, fresh connections, and inspiration to implement innovative practices within their own businesses.

Members enjoyed a three-course dinner, celebrated recent achievements of the club and were able to socialise with each other outside their working environments. We look forward to the next opportunity to come together and collaborate.

Members of Business Club Ayrshire swapped boardrooms for helmets and overalls during a recent outing to Larkhall Circuit, enjoying an exhilarating afternoon of karting. The event was a perfect blend of adrenaline, friendly rivalry, and camaraderie, giving members the chance to connect in a setting that was fast-paced and fun.
Congratulations go to our podium finishers: Chris in first place, Robin in second, and Willie in third. Their focus, consistency, and competitive edge set the standard in what proved to be a memorable day for all.
The karting afternoon highlighted the club’s spirit, building stronger relationships while sharing experiences that go well beyond business.

Last Friday, Business Club Ayrshire welcomed an engaging and insightful presentation from Kenny Neill of Maru Consulting, who shared his expertise as a Process & Technology Consultant.
Kenny spoke about how businesses can leverage technology to streamline operations, reduce inefficiencies, and unlock new opportunities for growth. His practical examples and clear strategies resonated with members, sparking lively discussion and plenty of food for thought on how local enterprises can adapt in an ever-changing digital landscape.

BCA members came together for a lively afternoon at their annual bowling event, organised by Cameron Singleton. The event gave members the chance to relax, network, and enjoy some friendly competition away from the boardroom.
The event proved to be a highlight of the club’s social calendar. After several closely contested games, it was Chris and Matthew who emerged as the day’s winners, showcasing both skill and consistency to claim victory.
